'Habitus further challenges the biological determinism of 'natural intelligence'. If one is not aware of the depth of cultural construction it is easy to perceive these dispositions as genetic/natural abilities, both within ourselves and within others. As Charlesworth notes (2000), it is often those most culturally dispossessed who see intelligence as genetic, in 'a deep and determining way' that they cannot escape (p251).'
