What used to be the task of redistribution is handed over to inclusion. A more inclusive multicultural society is the ersatz for a just society, which was already the ersatz for the classless society. Post-national citizenship discourse is neoliberalism with a leftist face because it envisages migrants exercising a transformative force similar to the proletariat; at the same time, the transformation is a far cry from moving toward greater equality.
